Biography

From the Johnstown Leader Herald, May 29, 2008:

John M. "Mick" McGuire, 88, of State Highway 30 Amsterdam, New York (Town of Perth), passed away Tuesday afternoon May 27, 2008 at his home. Born in Johnstown, New York on July 8, 1919, he was the son of the late John and Louise Eisenmann McGuire. Mr. McGuire graduated in 1937 from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School in Amsterdam. He also graduated from Manlius School in 1948 and attended Cornell University, Albany Business College and Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

Mr. McGuire was employed as a credit manager at General Electric Credit Corporation. He was a district sales manager for National Union Radio Corporation and a manufactures representative for LeRoy and McGuire Electronics Inc. Mr. McGuire was honorably discharged as a Sergeant and was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1945. He was a parishioner and communicant of St Stephen's Church in Hagaman, New York.

Mr. McGuire is survived by his wife, Mary Eileen Martin Pelneau McGuire to whom he married on October 25, 1952; one son, James G. Pelneau (Angela) of Amsterdam, New York; one daughter, Mary E. Condon of Johnstown, New York; one sister, Helen Boswell of Amsterdam, New York; four grandchildren, Katie Corrie (Stephen), Caryn Close, Robert Close (Lindsay), and James A. Pelneau of Saratoga Springs, New York; five great-grandchildren, Sam, Julia and Aidan Corrie, Casey and Paxton Close. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. McGuire was also predeceased by two sisters, Jean Viele and Katherine Wilde.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Pawling, Street, Hagaman, New York. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, New York.
