Biography

Squire McGuire was born about 1785 in Montgomery County, Virginia. He was the son of William McGuire. His mother may have been Mary.

Squire moved with his parents from Tazewell County, Virginia to Floyd County, Kentucky about 1802. Unlike most of his siblings, he remained in Kentucky when his parents moved back to Virginia c1815.

Squire reportedly married Mildred Haines before 1810 in Kentucky, most likely in Floyd or Barren Co. No marriage record has been located and there is some evidence (1837 and 1845 deeds, below) that she may have been related in some way to Joseph Shipley, died before 1837 Allen Co., KY. Squire also gave his consent for his sister to marry William Shipley in 1811. More ressearch would be necessary to explain the connection to Shipley's.

He passed away about 1847 in Allen Co., KY. Probate records for Allen Co. were damaged in a courthouse fire in 1902. Some material was reconstructed but index for 1836-1860 lists no McGuire’s.
