Biography

James Edward was born on 11 December 1915 in Schenectady, Schenectady, New York, United States^[1][2]. He was the son of Bartholomew (or Bartlett) Mclean and Mary Ago/Igo.

In 1920 he was living with his parents, Bartlett (a machinist aged 46) and Mary (36), and his siblings - Frances (13) and Bartlett (11) - at 532 Humford Street, Schenectady, New York^[3]. He was aged 4 and had been born in the State of New York. His parents had both been born in Massachusetts. His father's parents had been born in Scotland and Ireland, and his mother's in Massachusetts. He was still living there in 1925^[4]. In 1930 he was with his parents, Bartlett (a foreman in an electric motor department aged 58) and Mary (47), and his siblings - Frances (23) and Bartlett Jr (a stock chaser aged 21) - at 923 Delemont Avenue, Schenectady, New York^[5]. He was aged 14. He was the only child at home in 1940 with his parents, Bartlett (a Blue Punt clerk aged 68) and Mary (58), at 337 Hulett Street, Schenectady^[2]. He was a single man aged 24 working as a cost clerk and born in the State of New York.

He married Kathryn/Catherine Madeline McGrath on 31 July 1948 at Schenectady, New York^[6]. They had several children.

In 1950 he was still living at home with his parents, Bartholomew (78 and unable to work) and Mary (a matron working in a private club aged 67), with his wife Catherine (24 and keeping house) and baby Philip (born in June that year) at 337 Hurlett Street, Schenectady, Schenectady, New York^[7]. He was a purchasing department buyer for an electrical manufacturer aged 34.

James died on 25 January 1970 aged 55 of myocardial infarction (heart attack) at the Community Hospital at Waynesboro, Virginia^[1]. He was buried in Augusta Memorial Park, Augusta County, Virginia^[8].

There is conflict between records for the spelling of his father's first name, as it seems he used both Bartholomew and Bartlett. (Dickson-4413 21:53, 10 November 2023 (UTC))
