Agnes was born 16 February,1831 and was the eldest daughter of George and Agnes (Reid) McLeod. She told her family she had been born in Edinburgh where her father was a butler, but the only record of her birth found to date was in her bible. At the census in 1841 (at age 10) she was living at Kilmallie, Inverness with her mother (aged 25) and younger sisters Eliza (aged 5) and Margaret (aged <1) and brother Norman (aged 3). Agnes married William Bisset in the Church of Kilmallie, Fort William, Lochaber in Invernesshire in 1849. Together, 3 months later, they sailed for New Zealand on board the Mooltan. She passed away at Kaitangata, Otago in New Zealand in 1914.
