Gilbert Rotherdale McMinn was born in 1841. He was the second son of Joseph McMinn and Martha Hamill.
In 1874, he married Anna Gore.

McMINN—GORE.—On the 28th November, at Palmerston, by the Rev. A. J. Bogle, Gilbert Rotherdale, second son of the late Joseph McMinn, to Anna, third daughter of Alfred Gore, Esq., J.P.[1]
In 1884, he married Madge Fleetwood-Marsh.
MARRIAGE.
McMINN—FLEETWOOD-MARSH.—On Saturday, the 15th. instant, at the Government Residence, Palmerston, by the Rev. W. Stewart, Madge, second daughter of George R. Fleetwood-Marsh of Finsbury-square, London, to Gilbert Rotherdale McMinn, H.M.C.S., Port Darwin.[2]
McMINN.-On October 18, 1924, at his residence, St. Kilda, Victoria, Gilbert Rotherdale McMinn, C.E., F.R.G.S., in his 84th year.
