Lucretia McMullen was born on about 27 May 1882 (according to her grave stone, pictured on FindAGrave) in Mississippi, United States. She was the daughter of John Alexander McMullen (1841 - 1902). Her mother was likely Martha Ann (Gilchrist) McMullen (1858 - 1934), Although John and Martha Ann's marriage was not legally recorded until 1887 (according to the indexed record at FamilySearch), according to the 1900 United States Census, they had been married 17 years which would have put their marriage in about 1882-1883.[1]
Lucretia was recorded as 16 years old when the 1900 United States Census was taken which said her birth took place in May 1884 rather than May 1882. She was living in the household of her father, J. A. McMullen, in Meridian, Lauderdale County, Mississippi. M. M. McMullen (J. A. McMullen's wife and likely Lucretia's mother Martha Ann) was also a member of the household. Lucretia also had 8 siblings recorded as members of the household.[2]
Lucretia was married to Benjamin Oliver Harper before 1911 based on the age of their oldest daughter recorded on the 1920 United States Census. They were the parents of at least five children.
In the 1920 census Lucretia, recorded as age 37, was enumerated as the wife of Ben O. Harper in the Hurricane Creeek area of Lauderdale County, Mississippi. Four children were also members of the household.[3]
