Orange Blossoms.

On the Manning River the leading event of the last few days waa the marriage of Mr. D. Masters and Miss A. M'Pherson, in the Presbyterian Church, Tinonee. The ceremony was solemnised by the Rev. S. P. Stewart, in the presence of a large number of interested spectators. The bridegroom and his brother, who acted as best man, proceeded to the church, where they awaited the arrival of the bride, who made her appearance attired in a pretty costume consisting of a gray plush bodice and skirt; the latter being covered by an overskirt of cream embroidered lace, long square train of lace, tulle veil, and wreath of orange blossoms. She was accompanied by her two bridesmaids, Miss L. Masters and Misa S. M'Kay, who were prettily attired, and by Mr. W. A. Thompson (her brother-in-law), who gave her away. The ceremony over, the bridal party proceeded to Belmont, the residence of the bride's sister, Mrs. W. A. Thompson, where breakfast was partaken of, after which the newly-married pair took their departure for Port Macquarie. The travelling dress of the bride was of gray cashmere, trimmed with steel-colored beaded ornaments and epaulettes, with a fashionable hat to correspond.

Obituary[6]

The Manning River Times and Advocate for the Northern Coast Districts of New South Wales (Taree, NSW) - Saturday 14 May 1898 - page 4

Obituary.

MRS. D. MASTERS, JUNR.

It is again our melancholy duty to record the demise of another worthy resident of this district, Mrs. D. Masters, of Mitchell's Island, having passed away at her residence at 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning last, aged 31 years. The deceased lady had been ailing for some time past.

The funeral took place yesterday (Friday) afternoon at the Mitchell's Island Cemetery, having been delayed a day to allow of Mrs. Masters' brother (Mr. M'Pherson) arriving overland from Sydney. The Rev. R. H. Phillips officiated at the grave, and there was a large concourse of mourners.

A husband and two daughters are left to mourn their sad loss — the youngest being only one month old. When Dr. Gormley saw Mrs. Masters on Tuesday he had some hopes that she might pull through, as she appeared to rally. She had been confined to her bed since the birth of the youngest child, and was carefully and tenderly nursed by Mrs. Cummings. Great sympathy is expressed on the Lower Manning and throughout the district for the bereaved husband.

Mrs. Masters was highly esteemed by all who knew her. As one of the annual collectors for the funds of the M.R.D. Hospital her kindly aid will be missed. She was ever ready to help in all good works.
