Biography

The son of John McTarnaghan and his first wife, Susanna (Gibson) McTarnaghan, Joseph McTarnaghan was born in Ossian Township in 1896.[citation needed] His mother passed away in 1899 and his father remarried, marrying Joseph's late mother's sister, Margaret (Gibson) McTarnaghan. Joseph lived with his family in Ossian Township.,[1] They later moved to Sparta Township.[2][3] Joseph married Elizabeth Mae Somerville (1896-1962), the daughter of Edward Somerville and Elizabeth Jane Given, marrying in Ontario County, New York on October 12, 1920.[4] They rented land in Livonia Township, farming on their own account.[5] Joseph passed away there at the age of 34[6] and is buried at Union Cemetery in Livonia Township.[7]
