Sarah was born in 1830. She was the daughter of Ezekiel McWhorter and Rebecca Armstrong. She passed away in 1898.
She married John A. Shaw on 3 October, 1850 in Walker County, Georgia. Their children were Rebecca Jane (Shaw) Morgan (1852–1896), William Henry Shaw (1853–1929), Thomas E. Shaw (1854–1933), Andrew Jackson Shaw (1856–1884), Emma Elizabeth (Shaw) Clements (1859–1925) and Martha A. Shaw (1860–1879).
Sarah passed away on 06 January, 1898 in Walker County, Georgia followed with burial at the Shaw Cemetery (Plot: Row 5 /3619-20) in LaFayette, Walker County, Georgia.
In 1850, Ezekiel McWhorter was living in Chattooga [not Chattanooga] Valley, Walker County, Georgia, near John McWhorter (they are on the same page in the 1850 Census, near in age, and likely to be brothers). He was a farmer with property worth $1,000. He, his wife Rebecca, and oldest four children came to Georgia from South Carolina after the birth of William in 1835 but before the birth of Mary in 1841.
