Biography

Benjamin Franklin Mernar, the eldest son of Henry Mernar and Jane Montgomery, was born on the 23rd of August 1819 in the Fairfield District of South Carolina. In 1831, his father died and his mother remarried James Kincaid. Around 1835, Benjamin, his brother William and extended family of Montgomery's, Kincaid's and Bell's emigrated to Oktibbeha County Mississippi.

Sadly, young Benjamin just shy of his 21st birthday, died on the 1st of July 1840. He was buried in the newly organized churchyard of the Starkville A.R.P. church; which his family were charter members.
