Merrill, 65, will be at 10:40 a.m. tomorrow at Fort Rosecrans national Cemetery. Berge Roberts Mortuary is in charge. CWO Merrill, a Kansas native, was an area resident 20 years. He lived at 345 D Avenue. He died Sunday. He retired from the Marine Corp in 1960 after 30 years of service that included enlistments in the Army and the Navy. At the time of his retired at Marine Corps Schools, Quantico, VA., he was a personnel officer at the rifle range. He also was a Marine Marksman and participated in several National Rifle Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. During his career, he served in China and other overseas bases. He was a combat veteran of World War II and Korea. Survivors include his Widow, Bonnie, who is a local entertainer at hospitals and convalescent homes; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Swymeler of Chula Vista; a son, Richard of La Mesa, and seven grandchildren.

Merrill, 65 of 345 D Ave., National City, were yesterday at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Born in Kansas, Merrill lived here 19 years and was a retired chief warrant officer of the U.S. Marine Corps. He originally served in the Army Artillery. He later joined the Marines and served as an aviation gunner in World War II for a total of 31 years of military service. Merrill was a member of F.W. Hacket 574 F&AM, and a former member of the National City Kiwanis club. He died Sunday in Balboa Naval Hospital. His wife, Bonnie, survives.
