Biography
Sarah Merriman was born to Elijah Merriman and Mary N. McCoy in Pennsylvania in 1812. She wed Jonah G. Griffith in 1832 in Ohio, and over the next 20 years the couple made their way through Ohio and Indiana, then settled in Iowa. See husband Jonah's page for detail on children and 1860 census of Iowa.
The couple had 11 children. Only two not mentioned in 1850 or 1860 censuses were Luke and John Wesley Griffith.
