Biography

John Mesarch lists his birth date as January 6th, 1874 in Prócs, Sáros, Hungary ^[1]. The record of his baptism puts his birth date as January 9th, 1874 to Anna Czentek of Prócs ^[2]. His mother was unmarried, but a note next to the baptism entry lists John's father as a Janos Meszarcs.

He married Anna Vojtko, daughter of John Vojtek and Maria Vasko, about 1898 in Slovakia ^[3] (date is based off ages at marriages given in their 1930 census record). Together, they had nine children. Their first two children, Maria Mesarch and Anna Mesarch, were born in Slovakia before the family immigrated to the United States in 1900/1901 ^[1].

He passed away in 1948.
