“Meschter was on his way to work on a farm of a brother-in-law, Calvin G. Kriebel, near Hereford, when he was run down by a truck allegedly driven by James Downing, Green Lane.
Pvt. J. J. Culp, of Collegeville Barracks of State Motor police, reported Downing said he could not see the man walking because of poor visibility resulting from darkness and falling snow.
Downing was released in $2500 bail by Justice of the Peace Joseph Wolfe, Norristown, pending outcome of an investigation of Coroner W. J. Rushong.”
Oswin was a member of the Schwenkfelder Church. He died of a compressed fracture of the skull when struck by a truck and was buried on February 4, 1940, at Palm Schwenkfelder Church Cemetery, lot #54, grave #1.
