Christopher Hogarth Metcalf, 1808-1881, was born in Halton, Lancashire, England, the son of George Metcalf (b. 1773 England) and Margaret Hoggarth ((b. 1777 England), who married in 1799 in Halton, Lancashire, and had thirteen children, born between 1799 and 1828. Christopher and Martha Hodgson were married on 13 May 1833 in Warton, Lancashire. They had ten children, born between 1834 and 1857. His wife, Martha was born on Christmas Day, 1812 in Lancashire, and she died in 1872 in Lancashire. ^[1] They had twins, born on 28 January 1849 in Warton, Lancashire, England; daughters Margaret Mary ^[2] and Nancy Martha. ^[3]
