The children likely attended the Public school in High Street. Frantisky missed as much school as possible. She said she was teased about her accent. Josef and Valenty didn't like school much either and their attendance was spasmodic. [1]
The family moved to Kaitawa in the North Island as there were more opportunities to be had there. The government was offering subsidised parcels of land and both Frantisky's father Jan and her brother Valentine were granted land at Kaitawa. [1]
