Emory was born in 1895. He was the son of Albert Miles and Maria Lyons.
Albert and Maria married in 1893 and can be found in the 1900 Census of Peoa, Utah. Those in the household included Albert Miles (28 yrs), Head of Household, occuapation, Farmer, Louisa M Miles (26 yrs), Amasa Miles (6 yrs), Emery Miles (4 yrs) and Ira Miles (2 yrs). It was recorded that the family owned their home mortgage free and Albert and Louisa had been married 7 years.
