John Millen was born in 1751, in Ireland and was residing in the Camden District of British Colonial Carolina at the time of the American Revolutionary War. John Millen enlisted as a Private in Captain William Alexander's Company of the Militia, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Wade Hampton. He also served in Sumter's Brigade of Light Dragoons. John Millen is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A078935. DAR records indicate that John Millen died before March 18, 1801, in York District, South Carolina. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of his sons, Archibald Millen; James Millen, who married Rebellah McSpaddin; and William Millen, who married Elizabeth Meek.
