Biography

Florence child of John Miller and Ethel Wall.

Her birth was registered under the name Muller.

Florence was first educated at Petone Central School being admitted on 7 March 1898. She was next schooled at Pahiatua and her last day of school was on 20 September 1899. Florence then entered the workforce.

In 1905 Florence married a widower, John William Whitworth.

John was a Master Butcher operating his own business and trading in Wellington. 2 His wife Mary (Molly) passed away in 1900.

Florence and John had 3 known daughters, Rita Emily was born in 1906 in New Zealand. The family moved to Australia and settled in the Warringah district of NSW where daughters Joyce Ethel 1911 and Lorna Florence 1921 were born.

In 1938 John William Whitworth died at 33 Allison Road, Randwick aged 65. 1

Florence later moved to Queensland where she died in 1983 at the Golden Age Retirement Home in Southport.
