Biography

John was born in 1861. He passed away in 1929.

John William Miller, MD was the son of James Samuel Miller, MD (1835-1901) and Anna Maria Belcher (1830 - 1893). After attending local schools he attended Mount Allison Wesleyan Male Academy from 1880-1882, then Mount Allison University in 1883. He then went to City College in New York (now NYU) and graduated from medical school in 1885. He and Florence Payzant were married in 1887. By the summer of 1889 they were residing in Freeport, Digby County where he maintained a medical practice until 1892. At some point in there he went to Edinburgh, Scotland for advanced medical studies. He and Florence returned to Canning the summer of 1892 where he maintained a medical practice and pharmacy until his death in 1929. He and Florence Amelia Payzant (Flossie) had 2 daughters: Ethel Maguerite Miller (1895 - 1985) and Minnie Vivian Miller 1897 - 1980).
