He married Sarah "Sallie" Barbara Spears, daughter of W. H. and Ann Spears, on 22 Dec. 1868 at Cabarrus County, North Carolina.
He was a farmer when he and Sarah appeared on the census of 22 Sep. 1870 at Crab Orchard, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Charles died on 16 May 1919 probably at Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and was buried at Robinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.
