Biography

Albert was born in about 1864[1], one of 13 children. He grew up in Birmingham, son of Martha (Atkiss) Millward (1840-1929) and Richard Joseph Millward (1840-1931), a clerk/brass founder.[2] In 1881 he was a mine engineering student, living with his parents and 9 siblings.[3]

Albert married Laura (Fiddian) Millward (1860-) in 1887[4] and they had at least 10 children. In 1891 they were visiting his family with their 3 young daughters who were born in Lancashire. 10 years later he was a mining engineer and he and Laura were living in Accrington with 9 children, a servant and monthly nurse[5] and in 1911 they were still there, living with 3 daughters.[6]

Albert died in 1943 at the age of 79.[7] He is buried with his parents in Brandwood End Cemetary, Birmingham.[8] His daughters Dorothy Maud Millward (abt.1896-) and Annie Jessamine (Millward) Hilton (1890-1974) are cited as beneficiaries in his will.[9]
