Desire Brown Miner was born 8 Dec 1812, in or near Stonington, Connecticut. She was the seventh child of Saxton Miner and Content York.

She married 10 Oct 1840 at Stonington, Connecticut, Solomon Smead Wheeler. [Note: Desire B. Miner and her sister Lucy were married on the same day to Wheeler half-brothers, Solomon and Robert, respectively, thus these four people became mutual half-brothers- & half-sisters-in-law.]
