DIED:-In this city, at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Jas. Oliver, Mrs. Sarah E. Edwards, wife of the late David Edwards. She was born in Franklin County, Kentucky, March 16, 1815; was married to Mr. Louis Walden in Montgomery County, Indiana in 1832. To them was born seven children, 5 sons and 2 daughters. Two of her sons by that union survive her, Wm. II., of McPherson, and Jas., of this city. Mr. Walden died in 1846, leaving her a widow with seven small children to care for as best she could.

She married again in 1852 to the late David Edwards; to this union was born four children, two of which survive her to mourn her loss, R. C. Edwards and Amanda Oliver.

Mother Edwards, as she was called by her friends, was a living example of the power and worth of a Christian life. It enabled her to live so that she was loved and respected by all who knew her, and maintain the love and care of her children to life's latest hour, and to bring her children up in such a way as to secure a place of honor and respect wherever they are known. If they are faithful to her life's example a few more days they will be permitted, with her, to wear the crown of the righteous. Mrs. Edwards, happily, was one of the wide that walked in the path of the just which is as a shining light that shines more and more unto a perfect day.

Her maiden name was Mitchell. She lived to be 85 years and 4 days old. Her funeral was preached by Rev. L. B. Tremain, of Cuba, from the 14th verse of the 13th Chapter of Hosea: "I will ransom them from the power of the grave. I will redeem them from death"; after which all that was mortal was laid to rest to await the promise given in the Test. G.W. SUTTON
