She married 1) James Stewart on 24 April 1896 at "Roselea", Bonnybridge,; the service performed by Protestant Rev. Mr. McGregor. Together they became the parents of George Stewart, William Stewart, James Stewart, and Alexander Stewart. Mary was abandoned by James in September 1901 while pregnant with Alexander. [1] In 1915, she stated in a Poor Law application that he had gone to South Africa, but had not returned to her.
Mary began living with George Robert Turnbull. With him she had children Robert Turnbull, Thomas Turnbull, George Turnbull and Elizabeth Turnbull. George was killed in 1915.
It is indicated that James Stewart died circa 1924.
She married 2) Unknown Wyper. She was no-longer living with him in 1935.
Mary passed away in April 1953 and was buried at Hayfield Cemetery in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. [2]
