James Stewart was born on 21 August 1873 in Rescobie, Forfarshire (now Angus), Scotland. [1]
He married Mary Borrowman Mitchell on 24 April 1896. [2] Together they became the parents of George Stewart, William Stewart, James Stewart, and Alexander Stewart. James abandoned Mary in September 1901 while she was pregnant with Alexander. [2]
