MOLESWORTH — JAMES A wedding was celebrated on Thursday last week between Miss Frances Hill James, daughter of Mrs. James and the late Dr. James, of Collins-street, and Mr. Robert Matheson Molesworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Molesworth. The ceremony was performed at Christ Church, St. Kilda, by the Rev. Canon Godby, and the incumbent. The bride was very handsomely gowned in ivory white satin duchesse, draped with Brussels lace. Her veil was a family treasure, lent by a cousin, and once worn by Queen Charlotte. The gown had a full court train, with small knots of orange blossom ornamenting it. The beautiful Brussels lace on the dress was the gift of the bride's mother, who also provided her with quantities of fine table linen. The bridesmaids were Miss Lynette Molesworth, Miss Grace Fitzgerald, Miss Oenone Molesworth, Miss Katie Fitzgerald, Miss Tolhurst, and a cousin from England. They were all gowned in La France rose colours, their gowns having yokes and frills of ivory tinted lace and plumed hats of the same color. The general effect of the uniform dressing was charming, and seldom has any group of bridesmaids shown to greater advantage. Mr. W. Molesworth officiated as best man. After the wedding a reception was held at "Mittagong," Grey- Street, St. Kilda. The house was beautifully decorated, the drawing room being fragrant with hundreds of La France roses, which covered a lattice work arranged about the doors and mantel shelves. In the room where the bride and bridegroom received the decorations were entirely white, ropes of lilies being suspended from the centre of the ceiling, while lattice work over the doors and mantel shelves was covered with them. At the wedding breakfast, which was subsequently served, the crackers had wedding bells and white satin shoes in them. Horseshoes hung on rustic flower stands and in every other available place. There were no speeches whatever, and the gathering was none the less cheery in consequence. The presents were unusually valuable and varied, and included a piano, a dog cart and ponies, and a beautiful rug of soft black fur, given by Mr. Byron Moore. This rug roused much speculation, which is not to be wondered at, seeing that it was made entirely of black rabbit skins. Another item of much interest was a pistol, given by a Scottish regimental armourer, so heavy that the butt end is capable of doing much execution.
