Biography
Gunelia M. (probably Martha) Monson was born on July 6, 1876 in Storden, Cottonwood, Minnesota.
She married Hans Thynes Junior on June 29, 1901 in Windom, Minnesota.
The year they married they bought a 120-acre farm in the NW ¼ of Section 21 outside of Storden. They built all of the buildings and they bought the land for $17.50 an acre. Hans and his son Engel farmed this land until 1963 when the farm was sold to Thomas Barron.
Hans and Gunelia raised four children on their farm – Engel, Marian, Mrytle and Jessie. In 1946 Gunelia was honored and received a Lifetime Membership as a senior member of the Old Westbrook Ladies Aid.
She died on September 7, 1959. She was buried on September 9, 1959 in Old Westbrook Church Cemetery, Storden.
