Giovanni was born around 1800 [1], son of Paolo Montelione and Domenica Formica [2]. In 1860 at age 63 he married the much younger Antonina Tumminello, age 33 [3]. This was a first marriage for each of them. They had at least 8 children. He died in 1880 at about 83 years old [4].
Research Notes
His marriage record identifies him as a civil employee, and referred to with the respectful 'Don'. He is identified as a sharecropper farmer 'contadino' in death record of his son, Bartolo. The latter is clearly in error as a sharecropper would not have been called 'Don'. It is likely that the town clerk recording Bartolo's death use the default occupation of contadino, which was true for the majority of inhabitants. My speculation, anyway.
