He died before 18 Jun 1730 and predeceased his wife Anne. John's will was written 26 Sep 1729 and passed probate on 18 Jun 1730 in New London, Chester County, Pennsylvania.[3]

DNA Note

Haplogroup I-FTD48830 is dated by FTDNA as being created 1655 or later at the 99% confidence level.[4] It branched from I-FT140601 which is dated by FTDNA as being created 1610 or later at the 99% confidence level.[5]Through testing so far of two men who are descended from two sons of John, he or his father were likely the creators of the Haplogroup. A descendant of John Montgomery has the Haplogroup I-M253 [6]. That descendant matches Jon Montgomery who descends from Michael Montgomery who died in Greene County, Pennsylvania and Kenneth Montgomery and other descendants of Alexander Montgomery b 1705 who died 1768 in Orange County, Virginia. Both men have the Y700 Haplogroup J-FT140601, each with a different branch. John is probably the brother or cousin of Alexander Montgomery. Additional Y700 testing of more descendants of both men will provide more certainty to the true relationship.
