Biography

Oscar Montgomery was born about 9 Jul 1842 in Onondaga, Onondaga, New York, USA. He was a son of George Montgomery and Almira Gunn. Oscar Montgomery married Ellen Gilligan on 17 Jul 1861 in Howlett Hill, Town of Onondaga, Onondaga, New York, USA. He died "a violent death," according to the letters of administration issued to his wife Ellen on 3 Dec 1867 in Onondaga, Onondaga, New York, USA.^[1]

In 1865, Oscar, his wife Ellen and daughter Nellie were living with his parents in the town of Onondaga. It was reported in the census that he was born in Onondaga County.^[2] Also a member of the household was a hired hand, John Amalia (Malia), a 19-year-old Canadian emigrant who would later become Ellen Montgomery's second husband.

Oscar was buried at Howlett Hill Cemetery, Howlett Hill. His Find A Grave: Memorial #107599086 has a Photo and links to those of family members.^[3]
