On the 17 Feb 1817, after the bans were published in the parishes of St Mathias (Pointe Olivier) and St Marie (Marieville), Ignace Benoit, widower of Ursule Boulay, a farmer from the parish of St Marie, and Charlotte Monty, the adult daughter of Gaspar Monty, farmer, and his deceased wife, Thérèse Desnarais (sp?), of the parish of St Mathias, were married at Chambly.[1] The witnesses included Ignace's brother Hippolyte Benoit, Michel Girard, Jean Baptiste Barré the older and Jean Baptiste Barré the younger all of whom were relatives of Charlotte Monty.[1]
