When Benjamin Moore was born in around 1750 in Queens, New York, [1][2][3] his father, John, was 33 and his mother, Mary, was 33. He married Martha, surname unknown. They had five children in 19 years. He died in 1827 in Albemarle, Virginia, having lived a long life of 77 years. [4]

From the book "Moore" by Arthur Clayton, Moore (self-Published), Hudson, Ohio, 1982: Benjamin Moore married Martha and they migrated to Albermarle County, Virginia, about 1790. Benjamin's 200 acre farm was on what is now Moore's Creek. Moore's Creek forms the southern boundary of Charlottesville. Benjamin and Marth had elevel children: Samuel, Elizbeth, Issac, Moses, John J. Jr., Benjamin,Nancy Martha, Abigail, Sarah and Plat. Benjamin died in 1827. [See the critique in Research Notes above.]
