1790 census Union Co., SC Thos. Basingham [Blassingame] SAMUEL MORRIS 1M 16+ (????-1774) 1M -16 (1774-1790) 3F Rainey Bellue, Jr. THOMAS MINTON 2M 16+ (????-1774) 7F Listed as shown. Samuel is the only Morris listed in Union Co. Is he married or oldest son in this family?
SC records show Rebecca Minton, daughter of above Thomas, was disowned by the Quakers in 1792 for being an unwed mother. She then married Samuel and they are on the 1800 census in Pendleton Dist., SC 1M 26-45 (1755-1774) 1F 26-45 (1755-1774) 2F 10-16 (1784-1790) 3M 0-10 (1791-1800)
He is listed in his father’s Will as an heir. However, his mother contested the will to get her dower third. Samuel just relinquished everything to her. This statement was found at probate. “This is to satisfy you that it doth soot me to administer my father’s estate and do give up to my mother. So no more but sir your humble . . .”
Samuel was born in 1746. He passed away in 1833.
