Mary was born November 12, 1733, probably in Goochland County, Virginia to Joseph Morton, Jr. and his first wife.[1][2] She passed away about 1771.

Court 26 Oct 1752, Joseph Morton, Jr. presented deed to be recorded, Samuel Cobbs, Cl. C.[3]
Mary was born before her father removed to what is now Prince Edward County. He had appeared in Goochland records as early as 1731.[4] She is not the daughter of Joseph's wife Agnes Woodson. Her mother is supposed to be a Mary Goode of Henrico (later Chesterfield), who died young. Mary (Goode) Morton's parents are in dispute.
There is also some confusion about whether Mary survived her husband. However that would preclude his second marriage to Mary Gaines, which happened when his son William Price, Jr. was only 15 years old. William Sr. was survived by his second wife Mary.
