Research Notes

• The transcription of the 1880 Census on FamilySearch incorrectly shows that Freeman's father was born in Ohio;^[1] however, I believe it's a misinterpretation of the notation used by the census taker. His father was born in N. Carolina. -- Fiscus-32 13:06, 24 October 2019 (UTC)

• The transcription of Freeman's marriage record shows his second wife's name was Catherine P. Shears [sic]. This is a mistranscription of Speas. Her birth date is not given on this record, but her father's name is given as J.A. Speas, and her mother is simply listed as "Moser;" however, I think it could be "Moses" based on the image. This is said to be her first marriage, and her age is given as 35.
