Reuben Mott was born August 1758 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, Province of New York, to father Jonathan Mott.
After the American Revolution, he relocated in Elizabethtown Township, Leeds County, Johnstown District, Upper Canada, where he was a farmer. As a proven United Empire Loyalist, he was awarded 100 acres in Leeds County, by a Crown Deed of record 17 May 1802.
