Stephan G. Moylan: The Irishman who named the "United States Of America"
The earliest documented use of the phrase "United States of America" was in a letter written by Stephen Moylan to Colonel Joseph Reed secretary to George Washington.
Moylan was filling in for Reed, he wrote and said that he wanted to go to Spain on a mission to seek help for the fight against Britain "with full and ample powers from the United States of America"

Notes
In 1800, he lived in the Walnut War with several woman.
In 1810, he lived in the Cedar Ward, I cannot be sure if the Ward changed or he moved households.
It looks like in the 1800 census he was the only male living in the household.
There was other free person, not an Indian.
There was a free white woman over 45 and a free white woman 25-45.
There was one white girl under 10 and one white girl 10 - 15.
In 1810, he was still the only white male in the household. There was one woman of 45 or older and there were three other free people, except Indians in the house.
