Birth

Jul. 30, 1823, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA
Son of Jacob J. Mullendore (1792-1872), and his wife Elizabeth "Catharine" Wertz (1804-1875).
Jacob and Catharine moved their family from Montgomery County Ohio, to Shelby County Indiana, in 1832/33.[1][2]

Marriage

Lewis Mullendore married Harriet Eldridge Records, on 29 March 1849 in Shelby County, Indiana by James Clarke, Officiator. The marriage license was taken out on 26 March 1849.[3]
Harriet is the daughter of William Parker Records and his wife Elcy/Elsie Elizabeth Harvey.[1]

Hougham, Mullendore Family Genealogy

Lewis Mullendore, b. 7-30-1823 in Montgomery Co., O., moved with his parents to Shelby Co., Ind. in 1832. During his youth, to learn a trade, he stayed with the Joshua Knowltons who lived a little east and north of the Mullendores. Joshua Knowlton was a brick-maker. Through the Knowltons, Lewis became a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and met his future wife, Harriet E. Records. ... he and his family moved [to Nineveh Twp., Johnson Co., Ind.] in 1857.
In Johnson Co., the family lived in a log house. Lewis farmed, made harness for his horses and shoes for his family. Then he built kilns and made bricks for their home and for Union Christian Church [, both of] which were built about 1868-1870. Later, he learned to make drainage tile "and to him belongs the distinction of having manufactured the first tile ever made and laid in Johnson County or the State of Indiana."

Lewie moved with his parents to Shelby County, Ind. in 1832. During his youth, to learn a trade, he stayed with the Joshua Knowlton who lived a little east and north of the Mullendores. Joshua Knowlton was a brick-maker. Through the Knowltons, Lewis become a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and met his future wife, Harriet E. Records. At age 21 he began buying calf skins which his father allowed him to tan on the shares and at the end of eleven years he had accumulated about $12,000. His first land purchase was 40 acres in Shelby County. He afterwards bought 253 acres in Nineveh Township, Johnson County, Ind. where he and his family moved in 1857.[5]

In Johnson County the [Lewis Mullendore] family lived in a log house. Lewis farmed, made harness for his horses and shoes for his family.
