Biography

Nathaniel was born about 1820. Fort Cairborne was a stockade built in 1813, where his father was a soldier. His mother was Mariah Hathcock. "Mariah was supposed to have died shortly after the birth of her child George W., Georges father ( Nathaniel ) told Mariah's family that he was going back home and he ( George W.) couldn't go with him because he was an Indian... I have yet to find who George W. lived with, But I have found Nathaniel in the 1850 Census of Monroe County Alabama living with or next door to Hannah Murphy ( his mother) Nathaniel was working as a overseer on Hannah's Plantation."
