Thomas was born in 1877. He is the son of Patrick Murray, labourer, and his wife Jane Murphy. [1] He was christened on 4 Feb 1877 in Maynooth, Kildare, Ireland. His godparents were William Blake and Anne Blake.[2]
In 1911 he was working as a farm servant looking after the horses at Silverburn. He was living there the same year when his marriage was registered.[3] Thomas Murray, son of Patrick Murray, married Catherine Watterson, daughter of Thomas Watterson, on 29 Apr 1911 in Malew, Isle of Man.[4]
In 1921 he was a farm labourer working for Mr. Cowley, Middle Farm. He was married with two children.
