The GRO record for the James Murray who was born in Cockermouth Registration District in 1884 shows a mother's maiden name McEnespy. ^[3]

There is a record for James Murray born in Cockermouth in the last quarter of 1883 which does not show the mother's maiden name. ^[4] On this evidence, his year of birth has been amended to 1883.
