Biography
Henry was born in 1874.
Ensign H. C. Mustin, USN, was designated as Naval Aviator #11 in 1914. Graduated U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1896. Held various positions in and out of naval aviation. Was Officer in Charge when the Navy's first aeronautic station, at Pensacola, was established in 1914. Was the first Naval Aviator to be launched from a catapult when a ship was underway (USS NORTH CAROLINA, Pensacola Bay, 05 Nov. 1915). First Asst. Chief of BuAer when that bureau was established in Sept. 1921. Died at the Naval Hospital, Newport, RI as result of an aortic aneurysm.
Mustin Field, located at the Naval Aircraft Factory in Philadelphia, Pa. was named in his honor.
Captain Mustin's widow, the former Miss Corinne DeForest Montague, would marry Naval Aviator #22, George Dominic Murray, who had lost his wife in 1920.
Henry and Corinne had three sons, Lloyd, Henry, and Gordon (1918-1989).
s/o Thomas Jones and Ida (Croskey) [1854-1893] Mustin. Ida would marry William Supplee Lloyd upon deah of Thomas Mustin.
He passed away in 1923.
