Alma was a wool factory worker in 1910, when she had a son, Karl Gustaf. Karl Gustaf's father, Gustaf Löf, emigrated to North America two months later, and Alma left their son with Gustaf's parents. She moved to Göteborg (Gustav Vasa parish) in January 1912. Two moths later, Karl Gustaf passed away from measles.
