Biography
Sarah was born in 1781, in Franklin, Virginia. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Parker Newbill Sr and Sarah Glenn.
On 26 Sep 1814, in Franklin, she married William Harrison Powell[1]. They settled in Franklin and had 4 known children.
- Mary Catherine Powell b. 1815 VA - d. 1893 WI, m. Patrick Ashley Bassett
- Nathaniel Josephus Powell b. 1817 VA - d. 1902 CA, m. Ann W. Almond
- John William Powell b. 1822 VA - d. 1908 MT, m. Harriet Mildred Dudley[2]
- Ann Elizabeth Powell b. 1825 VA - d. 1884 WI, m. Thomas Tarleton English
William died in 1840. She then moved in with daughter Mary Catherine and her family.
In 1852, she, along with daughter Ann's family and son John's family, moved from Virginia to Sauk County, Wisconsin. When arriving in Wisconsin, she was living with daughter Ann and her family with John living a few houses away. Here she passed away in 1862 and is buried at the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
