On November 13, 1893, David, age 24 years, a bachelor, and Emma SALES (SAYERS), age 21 years, a spinster, were married at the Great Assembly Hall, in the District of Mile End Old Town in the County of London, England. At the time of their marriage, David was residing at 43 Lichfield Road, Mile End Old Town and Emma was residing at 89 Charles Street, Mile End Old Town. David was a Missionary to the Jews. David’s father, Jacob NEUGEWIRTZ was a general merchant and was deceased at the time of David’s marriage. Emma's father Julius SALES was a rigger. The witnesses were Albert Arthur MARKS and Rachel SALES.[3]
On April 13, 1898, David was naturalized as a British Subject. At this time, David, his wife, Emma and their children Archibald John and Ivy Victoria were residing at 26 British Street, Bow, London, United Kingdom.[4]
In the period of eight years preceding his application, David had resided, at minimum, for five years within the United Kingdom. Following his naturalization, he intended to continue residing in the United Kingdom. David was a City Missionary.[4]

In 1903, Reverend David John was sent from London, England to take charge of the Jewish Mission in the Anglican Diocese of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.[6]
David, his wife, Emma and their children, Archie, Ivy, Osborne, Regie and Francis sailed on the S.S. Victorian from Liverpool, England arriving on October 8, 1909 at Quebec, Canada. David and his family were returning Canadians.[7]

On April 30, 1929, his 1st wife, Emma, aged 57 years, passed away at Montreal, Quebec, Canada. On May 3, 1929, his 1st wife, Emma was buried at St. Martin’s Anglican Church, St. Urbain Street, Montreal.[9][10]

On August 20, 1931, David, a widower and Eva Mary STRANGMAN, a spinster, were married by banns at Holy Trinity Church in the Parish of Wallington, Borough of Sutton in the County of Surrey, London, England. At the time of their marriage, both David and Eva were residing at the Nook, Rosswood Gardens, Wallington. David was a Clerk in the Holy Orders in the Anglican Church. David's father, Jacob was deceased at the time of this marriage.[11][15][16]

In 1938, David, age 66 years with his wife, Eva, age 55 years, arrived at the Canadian Atlantic and Pacific Seaport at St. Albans, Vermont, United States.[12]

WHEREAS David John Neugewirtz, an Alien, now residing at 26, British Street, Bow, London has presided to me, the Right Honorable Sir Matthew White Ridley, Bart one of her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, a Memorial, praying for a Certificate of Naturalization, and alleging that he is a subject of Austria, having been born at Chulice, Crakow; and is the son of Jacob and Anna Neugewirtz, both Austrian subjects = of the age of twenty-nine years = a City Missionary = is married and has two children under age residing with him, viz - Archibald John Neugewirtz aged 3 years Ivy Victoria Neugewirtz aged 6 months and that in the period of eight years preceding his application he has resided for five years within the United Kingdom, and intends, when naturalized, to reside therein
And whereas I have inquired into the circumstances of the case, and have received such evidence as I have deemed necessary for proving the truth of the allegations contained in such Memorial. so far as the same relate to the Memorialist
Now, in the pursuance of the authority given to me by the said Acts, I grant to the aforesaid David John Neugewirtz this Certificate, and declare that he is hereby naturalized as a British Subject, and that, upon taking the Oath of Allegiance, he shall in the United Kingdom be entitled to all political and other rights, powers, and privileges, and be subject to all obligations, to which a natural-born British Subject is entitled or subject in the United Kingdom; with this qualification, that he shall not, when within the limits of the Foreign State of which he was a Subject previously to his obtaining this Certificate of Naturalization, he deemed to be a British Subject, unless he has ceased to be a Subject of that State in pursuance of the laws thereof, or in pursuance of a Treaty to that effect.

1903 - THE HISTORY OF THE DIOCESE OF MONTREAL - NEUGEWIRTZ, REV. D. J. - Ordained by Archbishop Bond. The Jewish Mission was opened in 1902, a house secured and a mission installed, which continued till 1903, when the present Missionary, Rev. Mr. Neugewirtz, was sent out from London to take charge. There are now about 32,000 Jews in Montreal, so that he has a large field of labor and plenty of scope for evangelization may he prosper in his labors.
