Biography
Martha (Newham) Stafford was born in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, England.
Martha, daughter of William and Catherine M was baptised at St Mary's Church, Arnold, Nottinghamshire on 29 Jan 1749/50 [1].
Martha married Samuel Stafford at St Mary's Church, Arnold on 11 February 1771 [2]. Their daughter Mary was born in July of that year, baptised in St Mary's Church [3].
Further children were Samuel (1774)[4], Henry (1774) [5], Betty 1782 [6], William 1785 [7], George 1787 [8], Ralph [9]. All the children were baptised at St Mary's Church, Arnold
Baby Betty ( was buried in St Mary's Church on 23 November 1783[10]
Research notes
Martha may have been buried at St Helen's Church, Selston, Nottinghamshire on 23 May 1812 [11] Selston is about 13 miles NE of Arnold, by road. No other possible burials were found on FreeREG or Family Search (17/1/2019). It may be that one of her children moved there.
