Biography
Mary was born about 1835. She is the daughter of William News and Charlotte Tate.
Research Notes
In the 1870 census record the transcribed names show up as "Laws" for Mary's parents, but if you look at the actual record it looks more likely it is "News" and was transcribed incorrectly. Everything else matches - census location, parents are William and Charlotte News, sons are William and Frank McGinnis. There is no indication who Mary's husband was or what happened to him.
In the 1880 census Mary's two sons, William and Frank, are still living with their grandparents, but there is no indication of what happened to Mary. She is not listed.
