Biography
Charles is said to have been born at Southland, New Zealand on 18 February 1847, although no record of his birth can be found on the New Zealand Civil Registrations of Birth from 1845 to 1855. Lack of registration of birth was probably due to legislation requiring Civil Registration of events in New Zealand did not become law until 1848.
On 26 May 1866[1] Charles married Mary Ann Lee in New Zealand. Mary Ann was apparently a widow who was about 10 years older than Charles.
Buried at Riverton.
