Holden Wade Nichols was born in 1807 in Anson County, North Carolina. He was the son of Isaac Nichols. He married Susan Bomar about 1824. He married Mary Ann Bruton in 1864. He died in 1872 in Houston County, Tennessee.

I, in the name of God, Amen...First, I want my funeral expenses paid as soon after my death as possible and next, I give my beloved wife, Mary M. Nichols all of the property she had when her and I married, both household and kitchen furniture and all the cattle, (except the oxen) and the hogs and the sheep that is marked in her mark and the black mare and the young mule that we call Lucy and all the plows and hoes and plowing gear. I also give my houses and farm to my wife for her lifetime or widowhood. If she should marry, then the houses and farm goes to my children and if she does not marry, then at her death, it goes to my children and the rest of my property, I dispose of after the following manner. I give my son one feather bed and furniture and my gold watch and I give my daughter Elizabeth Jane Nichols one feather bed and furniture and bed stead and her sister Mary's side saddle and I want my oxen and waggon and sorrel mule and all my hogs and sheep and all the rest of my things sold and my debts paid and if there is any money left after my debts is paid, I want it divided equally between my son William B. Nichols and my daughter Elizabeth Jane Nichols and after the death or marriage of my wife, I want my son William B. Nichols to have one third of my land and Elizabeth Jane Nichols one third and Isaac N. Nichols' two daughters the other third and I appoint my son William B. Nichols my executor to wind up and settle my estate as ordered in this will. I also want my wife to have a wheel and cards and one years' provisions for herself and family. Holden W.
